Allied Health

McCall Services’ Allied Health provides a variety of trained practitioners that will aid in identifying and assessing issues, and providing the necessary treatment options, including supporting the acquisition of skills, recovery and reablement. We understand the innate significance of Allied Health services, particularly within the NDIS framework, and its integral role in addressing hinderances which may impede upon a person’s independence or quality of life.

In May 2023, McCall Community Services acquired Shine Early Intervention, an early childhood intervention service originally founded in 2011, which was McCall’s introduction as a provider in the allied health sphere. This service has been rebranded under McCall Allied Health.

McCall acknowledges that Allied Health services can not be solely delivered in an in-clinic setting; therefore, several services are also available through community visits.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy, often referred to simply as OT, is a branch of health care that helps people of all ages who have physical, sensory, or cognitive hinderances.

McCall’s Occupational Therapy, previously known under Shine Early Intervention, provides individuals with developmental delays or disabilities, and their families, a structural foundation that fosters independence and encourages the development of their abilities. Developmental focuses in McCall’s Occupational Therapy services can include:

  • Fine and Gross Motor Skills
  • Visual Perception
  • Self Help Skills
  • Sensory Processing
  • Play and Social Skills
  • Cognitive Skills

Speech Pathology

Speech Pathology is an Allied Health discipline concerned with the evaluation, treatment, and prevention of communication disorders, including expressive and mixed receptive-expressive language disorders, voice disorders, speech sound disorders, speech disfluency, pragmatic language impairments, and social communication difficulties, as well as swallowing disorders across the lifespan.

At McCall, we are dedicated to bridging communication disparities through speech articulation, phonology, apraxia, voice, fluency, reading and writing comprehension, auditory processing, ASD, cognitive deficits and dysphagia among other developmental speech and language difficulties.

With decades of experience in Speech Pathology, and over 80 years collectively in early intervention, our Allied Health team understands the importance of tailoring our therapeutic approaches to suit specific individual needs.

Furthermore, our Speech Pathology team is trained in picture exchange communication systems (PECS), and sensory oral sequential feeding (SOS) augmentative and alternative communications.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy focuses on the promotion, maintenance, or restoration of health through patient education, physical intervention, disease prevention, and health promotion. Physiotherapy addresses the illnesses or injuries that limit a person’s abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives; in turn allowing for improved movement and function, reduced pain and stiffness, and/or improved quality of life.

Led by an experienced clinician with a decade of experience in the area, McCall’s Physiotherapy team is committed to extending, applying, evaluating and reviewing the science-based evidence that underpins and informs the practice and delivery of our services.

If affected by injury, illness or disability, our primary objectives are to support you through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice so that you can reach your full physical potential.

Early Childhood Intervention

Early Childhood Intervention describes the specialised support for a child with disability or additional support needs in early childhood. Early Childhood Intervention supports capacity building and promotes the child’s optimal development and overall wellbeing.

McCall’s Early Childhood Intervention, previously known as Shine Early Intervention, provides children with developmental delays or disabilities, and their families, a structural foundation that fosters independence and encourages the development of their abilities. Focuses in McCall’s Early Childhood Intervention services can include:

  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech Pathology
  • Home, Preschool, and School Visits
  • Social Skills Group
  • Therapy Gym
  • Comprehensive Assessments
