Our Board of Directors uses their wide range of business knowledge and skills to ensure McCall Services is focused on understanding and meeting the needs of people with disabilities. With their guidance, we’re building a community where family members, carers and staff collaborate to enrich the lives of each person using our services.

Dan Reeve

Dan was appointed to the Board of Directors in April 2011. Dan was then appointed as Chair of the Foundation and Services company in November 2019. He is a Civil Engineer by profession with 35 years experience and is currently the Market Director for Transport & Logistics with SMEC Australia. Dan has served on the Finance and Property Committee (Uniting Church – Parramatta & Nepean) and supported people with disability through his active involvement with Sydenham Bankstown Challenge Foundation.

Steve Chatman was appointed to the Board in April 2008, shortly after elected to the office of Treasurer and in November 2019 took on the role as Vice Chair. For nearly 20 years he worked as an Accountant in various Companies. For the past 27 years he has been a Director of his own Company involved in providing infrastructure for communications services in both the Government and Private sector. He is a past President of a Scout Group and for some 25 years was involved in Soccer in the Gladesville/Hornsby region including a past President of his local Club and served as Secretary of the Association for 5 years. His brother David is a resident at McCall Services.

Dhanesh Singh

Dhanesh was appointed to the Board of Directors in October 2023. In her previous board roles, Dhanesh has aided different boards in their understanding of cyclical trends and issues, including emerging risks. With a growth and development mindset, she brings corporate evolution to the forefront and the management of risk as proven through her wealth of professional experience in the risk and policy sectors. Dhanesh, with her hefty portfolio of board and professional experience, will become an expansive resource and advertiser of successful and positive development.

Russell Becker

RUSSELL BECKER

Director – Foundation Board

Member – Quality, Risk & Compliance Committee

Russell was appointed to the Board of Directors in January 2023. Russell has served on the Board of Capricorn Society, a member-based automotive business with 20 000+ members and a turnover exceeding $2 billion. Russell served as a Director for 16 years, 4 years as Chairman of the Board and 4 years as Chairman of the Remuneration and Nomination committee. He has also served as a Director of Capricorn Mutual, a member-based insurance alternative. For over two decades, Russell has been the Managing Director of Galston Service Centre and, prior to this, worked at Prospect Electricity as a Motor Mechanic, Plant Mechanic, and Fabricator. Russell actively participates in the community and sporting groups. He promotes an annual Special Olympics Regional Swim event which attracts over 100 athletes with intellectual disabilities each year. He is also the President of Combined Districts Kart Club, CDKC owns and operates a kart racing circuit at Lithgow.

James Kennedy

JAMES KENNEDY

James is a highly experienced executive and advisor in property, infrastructure, and corporate services management. As Director of Straight Arrow, he specialises in land acquisition and development programs. 

Previously, he held leadership roles at Jones Lang LaSalle, KPMG Corporate Finance, and the Defence Housing Authority, advising public and private sector clients on real estate strategy and transactions. With strong governance experience, including Chairing Metro Community Housing and serving on the Thorndale Foundation board, James brings valuable insight and expertise to McCall.

Makis Chrysanthos

MAKIS CHRYSANTHOS

Makis was appointed to the Board of Directors in October 2023. In his early career, Makis became a chartered accountant and operated his own practice in Sydney. Since selling his practice in 1997, he completed an MBA and became a management consultant working locally and internationally with large organisations in technology; banking; and mining, on team, leadership and organisational development.

He has also consulted to many high-growth small-medium enterprises and not-for-profit organisations in Australia on their business transformation strategies. Makis also brings to the Board over 15 years of experience in non-executive and financial management roles for not-for-profit organisations in social welfare, education, and community sports.

His previous role was as a board member and treasurer for Estia Foundation of Australia in the disability services field.

John Afaras

JOHN AFARAS

John Afaras enjoyed a distinguished 30-year career as an intellectual property and contract lawyer in Sydney, including senior leadership roles as Chairman, Director and Practice Leader within a legal and patent attorney practice. Through these roles, he developed strong capability in governance, budgeting, forecasting, human resources, risk management, and finance. Now retired from private practice, John applies his legal and management expertise to the not-for-profit sector. He has served on the board of The ESTIA Foundation of Australia and has volunteered with both ESTIA and the Making Waves Foundation. John also has an IP advisory role with Chris Obrien Lifehouse. 

Vinay Sheoran

VINAY SHEROAN

Vinay Sheoran, a Partner at Hall Chadwick, is a strategic and commercially focused finance executive with over 18 years’ experience across Australia and the UK. He brings deep expertise in board advisory, governance, risk management and large-scale transformation, with a strong track record of supporting organisations to deliver on their strategic priorities. Vinay has particular sector specialisation in real estate and the not-for-profit sector, where he has advised a broad range of clients on complex financial, operational and regulatory matters.  Vinay is recognised for his pragmatic leadership style and his ability to navigate challenging regulatory and operational environments while driving meaningful commercial outcomes. Vinay’s previous experience include working at EY, he is a CA and holds a Masters degree from Griffith University.

Catherina O’Leary

Catherina was appointed to the Board of Directors in October 2023. To the board, Catherina brings specialist experience in organisational development, innovation, and transformation. Catherina has over a decade of board experience which is largely focused within the disability sector. Notably, as Co-Chair in 2013-2014, her guidance and project leadership at ACT Disability Peer Led Working Group provides an insight into her abilities to both enact positive change and facilitate healthy discussion between community representatives and the government. Catherina’s valuable presence on the board will be crucial for future growth and development.

Greg Simmons

Greg was appointed to the Board of Directors in October 2023. Greg comes to the Board as a trusted and respected business partner and advisor delivering strong client engagement, solid commercial outcomes, and positive social impacts for the community. Adept at building long and enduring relationships, energising people around change and galvanising multi-disciplinary teams to design and deliver innovative customer solutions that uplift individual and organisation performance. Having a daughter with Down syndrome has led to Greg’s to involvement on non-profit boards and co-founding the Kuringgai Chase Fun Run, in its 10th year, as the major fundraiser for his local Special Olympics Club.

Lisa Bevan

Lisa Beavan is a purpose-driven professional with more than 15 years’ experience across business operations, strategic management and technology integration. Lisa joins the McCall Services board with strong expertise in Microsoft 365, low-code development and emerging AI tools. Lisa is known for creating seamless digital solutions that enhance productivity, engagement and organisational efficiency. Alongside her technical and operational work, she has previously served as a Board Chair of a disability service, contributing to governance and strategic development across the organisation contributing to governance and strategic development across the organisation. Lisa holds an MBA and a Graduate Diploma in Management and is currently a Doctoral Candidate researching corporate governance in the not-for-profit sector. 

Magdy Rizk

MAGDY RIZK

Magdy Rizk is an experienced executive who brings deep operational, governance and strategic expertise to the McCall Services Board. After senior leadership roles in the manufacturing sector, Magdy established an advisory practice in 2025 consulting to boards and CEOs on governance, strategy, risk management and organisational transformation. His work in the for-purpose sector, involves advising registered NFP’s in reviewing their overall strategy and ensuring alignment of their operational plans and organisational structures.  Known for leading large-scale operations and delivering strategic outcomes, Magdy strengthens organisational capability and drives long-term, measurable results. He is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Chartered Professional Engineer.
